Entre os modelos de dor pr\u00e9-cl\u00ednicos j\u00e1 estudados pelo LabNeuro est\u00e3o modelos de dor artr\u00edtica, dor p\u00f3s-operat\u00f3ria, fibromialgia, dor neurop\u00e1tica causada por diferentes etiologias, dor m\u00fasculo-esquel\u00e9tica e dor associada a queimaduras solares. Os estudos realizados pelo LabNeuro buscam n\u00e3o apenas ampliar os conhecimentos sobre os processos envolvidos na dor, mas tamb\u00e9m contribuir para o desenvolvimento de analg\u00e9sicos mais eficazes e seguros. Os estudos realizados no LabNeuro est\u00e3o relacionados \u00e0 duas linhas de pesquisa do PPGBTox (toxicologia e farmacologia de produtos naturais e sint\u00e9ticos; mecanismos bioqu\u00edmicos e moleculares associados a processos fisiol\u00f3gicos e patol\u00f3gicos). Para o desenvolvimento de nossas pesquisas, contamos com equipamentos para avaliar a sensibilidade dos animais frente a est\u00edmulos nocivos\/nociceptivos de origem mec\u00e2nica, t\u00e9rmica e qu\u00edmica, bem como equipamentos que nos possibilitam avaliar comportamentos com\u00f3rbidos comuns de v\u00e1rias condi\u00e7\u00f5es dolorosas, como os comportamentos que se assemelham a ansiedade e depress\u00e3o em animais. Atrav\u00e9s de abordagens farmacol\u00f3gicas e n\u00e3o farmacol\u00f3gicas, as pesquisas objetivam caracterizar fen\u00f3tipos neurocomportamentais associados a condi\u00e7\u00f5es humanas distintas, como ansiedade, depress\u00e3o, fobias, epilepsia, estresse, intoxica\u00e7\u00e3o alco\u00f3lica, mania, transtorno de humor bipolar, esquizofrenia e transtorno obsessivo compulsivo. Os projetos visam uma melhor compreens\u00e3o sobre as bases biol\u00f3gicas e mecanismos envolvidos em diferentes doen\u00e7as relacionadas ao sistema nervoso central e potenciais estrat\u00e9gias neuroprotetoras. Atrav\u00e9s desses estudos, buscamos compreender melhor o papel da disfun\u00e7\u00e3o mitocondrial em processos patol\u00f3gicos contribuindo assim, para a proposi\u00e7\u00e3o de novos tratamentos. Al\u00e9m disso, nos estudos voltados \u00e0 toxicologia de poluentes ambientais visamos entender os riscos associados \u00e0 exposi\u00e7\u00e3o aos contaminantes auxiliando na elabora\u00e7\u00e3o de pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas voltadas \u00e0 prote\u00e7\u00e3o da sa\u00fade e meio-ambiente. Os projetos desenvolvidos no LaBTEx abrangem duas linhas de pesquisa do PPBTox: \u201cBioqu\u00edmica Toxicol\u00f3gica Comparativa e Translacional\u201d e \u201cMecanismos Bioqu\u00edmicos e Moleculares Associados a Processos Fisiol\u00f3gicos e Patol\u00f3gicos\u201d. Estudamos tamb\u00e9m compostos bioativos com potencial antioxidante para uso em dietas para peixes que vivem em \u00e1reas contaminadas. Desde 2018, desenvolvemos projetos na linha de pesquisa voltada para Educa\u00e7\u00e3o em Ci\u00eancias junto aos alunos de gradua\u00e7\u00e3o da UFSM. As pesquisas buscam compreender o papel da sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o purin\u00e9rgica e avaliar compostos farmac\u00eauticos e bioativos, visando identificar novos alvos e estrat\u00e9gias terap\u00eauticas para o tratamento do c\u00e2ncer e de doen\u00e7as inflamat\u00f3rias, contribuindo para o avan\u00e7o da imunorregula\u00e7\u00e3o e o desenvolvimento de novas terapias. A estrutura do laborat\u00f3rio conta ainda com uma sala de estudos (sala 4231) e uma sala de experimenta\u00e7\u00e3o (sala 4229), equipada com equipamentos anal\u00edticos (ex: espectrofot\u00f4metro, medidor de pH, balan\u00e7as de precis\u00e3o, centr\u00edfuga refrigerada), capela de exaust\u00e3o, banho-maria, autoclave, estufa, agitadores.
