The High Level Courses focused on the synergy of industry and academia. They unfold in the following areas: Network Cascade, Adaptive Control, Sliding Mode Control, and Power Systems Dynamics. In addition, there was a discussion panel about Smart Cities and Smart Grids, which proved the ever growing need for research in this particular area. Following this, an IEEE UFSM SB partner professor, Fernando Guarda, represented IEEE PES Chapter on the conference, joining discussion tables, presenting his research in distribution systems protection with distributed generation, and collaborating with conference attendees in smart grid related subjects. Moreover, the professor, which is also in the organizing committee for the IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grids Technologies Latin America 2019, took the opportunity to invite all the participants to join in the biggest smart grids related congress in South America.
