Professors and Students from Osftalia University of Applied Sciences, Germany, will join UFSM members in this cultural and technical event promoted by the IEEE UFSM Student Branch and IEEE UFSM Joint Chapter.

On Wednesday, September 6th, invited professor Andreas Simon will give a technical lecture about the transformation of Germany’s power supply grid into a smart grid.

Afterwards, a panel with Brazilian and German students will discuss their experiences about the academic life and opportunities in a foreign country. Professor Denise Dick (Ostfalia) and UFSM professors will also join this panel discussion.

To strengthen relations between the two institutions, we will promote a visit to the Sítio Arqueológico de São Miguel Arcanjo in São Miguel das Missões on Friday, September 8th.

All the events are free of charge and will be held in ENGLISH. Certificates of attendance will be provided by request.

No registration is needed to attend the events of September 6th.


Prof. Dr. Andreas Simon got his Electrical Engineering degree (Advanced Automation Engineering) in 1997. The doctor’s degree in the subject “Autonomous Driving” followed in 2003. From then on, he worked for Bosch, researching in video-based driver assistance systems, until 2009, when he awarded a professorship at the electrical engineering department at the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences.
