He studied at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, in 2012 when he started working with chargers for electric vehicles. His master thesis is entitled \u201cDevelopment of a DC Fast Charge Station with Energy Storage Element for Electric Vehicles\u201d. From 2015 to 2017 he worked as a teacher at the Technical College of Santa Maria \u2013 CTISM. He also worked in 2019 as a teacher at the Electrical Engineering degree at UFSM. He received the B.S. degree from the Federal University of Santa Maria, Santa Maria, Brazil, in 1981 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florian\u00f3polis, Brazil, in 1984 and 1994, respectively, all in electrical engineering. Since 1985, he has been a Professor at the Federal University of Santa Maria, where, in 1987, he founded the Power Electronics and Control Research Group (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ufsm.br\/gepocufsm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GEPOC<\/a>). From 2001 to 2002, he joined the Center for Power Electronics Systems (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpes.vt.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CPES<\/a>), Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vt.edu\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Virginia Tech<\/a>), Blacksburg, where he performed his postdoctoral and researches on distributed power system. He has authored more than 100 technical papers published in the proceedings of national and international conferences.
