region.<\/span>\u00a0This unique environment acts as a natural laboratory for atmospheric sciences, where strong interactions between the biosphere, atmosphere, and climate can be observed. The Amazon plays a key role in the global climate system through the carbon cycle, cloud formation, and aerosol processes, while remaining highly vulnerable to climate change and human pressures such as deforestation, biomass burning, and urbanization.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a6c645d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a6c645d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Scientific Context<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"color: #1c1c1c;font-size: 16px\">Despite its global importance, the Amazon remains insufficiently instrumented, with very limited long-term atmospheric observations. This lack of data restricts our understanding of tropical atmospheric and climate processes. However, new observational infrastructures are being deployed, including remote sensing and in situ measurement systems dedicated to atmospheric composition and aerosols, particularly within the Amazonian atmospheric observatory. This creates a unique opportunity for scientific advancement and training.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-773a748 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"773a748\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><b>Objectives<\/b><\/h2><p>The AMASS Summer School aims to:<\/p><ul><li>Highlight the Amazon as a key region for climate research\u00a0<\/li><li>Support the development of the Amazonian atmospheric observatory\u00a0<\/li><li>Strengthen local scientific capacity\u00a0<\/li><li>Train and connect Master\u2019s students, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers\u00a0<\/li><li>The program promotes an integrated approach combining theory, instrumentation, and data analysis.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bce5662 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bce5662\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>Participants<\/strong><\/h2><p>AMASS is designed as an intensive five-day residential program for:<\/p><ul><li>Master\u2019s students\u00a0<\/li><li>PhD candidates\u00a0<\/li><li>Early-career researchers\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p>Participation is expected from French and Brazilian universities, particularly from partners of the AEROBI Project under the CAPES-COFECUB program. To ensure high-quality supervision and meaningful interaction, participation is limited to 15 attendees.
