In this edition, UFSM holds the 16<sup>th<\/sup> place in the general category in Brazil and 11<sup>th<\/sup> among\u00a0Federal Universities. Globally, it maintained its position in the\u00a01201-1440 range.\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Despite the large\u00a0number of public and private universities in Brazil, only 35 entered the ranking. Nonetheless, Brazil contributes the highest number of universities in Latin America, which, in this edition, was represented by 195 universities in 18 countries. This number is justified by the stringent criteria of the ranking, particularly regarding research metrics. \u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>This year, 17 million papers were evaluated by the ranking.
