No dia 16 de julho de 2023 o Laboratório de Herpetologia da UFSM participou de uma exposição no Shopping Praça Nova, em Santa Maria-RS. A exposição aconteceu das 13h30 às 18h e abordou os animais peçonhentos do Rio Grande do Sul bem como mitos, lendas, importância ecológica, econômica e médica, além do comportamento acerca destes animais. Foram distribuídos marca-páginas contendo informações dos principais animais peçonhentos da região, um pôster com informações sobre acidentes como evitá-los e foram apresentados exemplares disponíveis na Coleção Didática do Laboratório de Herpetologia. Os alunos de graduação e pós-graduação estiveram presentes durante todo o período sanando eventuais dúvidas do público. O público era composto por crianças e adultos, durante a exposição as pessoas interagiram com os exemplares expostos e fizeram perguntas a respeito de mitos locais, identificação das espécies e como evitar acidentes. Atividades de extensão desenvolvidas no meio acadêmico se mostram necessárias uma vez que o conhecimento científico é transmitido de maneira simples e fácil de entender.

A professora Sonia Zanini Cechin da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) torna público(a) o resultado final da seleção de bolsistas de iniciação científica junto ao Laboratório de Herpetologia, referente ao Edital 001/2023. A aluna Maira Keske Soares foi aprovada em 1º lugar, tornando-se bolsista PIBIC/ CNPq.

     A professora Sonia Zanini Cechin da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) torna público(a) a abertura de inscrições para seleção de acadêmicos dos cursos de graduação em Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria para Bolsa de Iniciação Científica, conforme Resolução 01/2013 da UFSM e as Resoluções RN 017/2006 (e seus anexos) e RN 023/2008 do CNPq.

     O presente Edital tem por objeto regulamentar a seleção de acadêmicos dos cursos de graduação em Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, para atuarem como bolsistas de Iniciação Científica no projeto 060188 – Estimativa etária de Helicops infrataeniatus JAN, 1865 (Colubridae, Dipsadinae) no sul do Brasil no âmbito do Edital Edital 014/2023 – IC UNIFICADO), do Centro de Ciências Naturais e Exatas da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria – Campus sede,
coordenado pela professora Sonia Zanini Cechin.

Ecologia de Comunidades

      O estudo da diversidade e ecologia de comunidades de anfíbios e répteis tem enfoque nos ecossistemas do Sul do Brasil. As pesquisas realizadas visam: inventariar a herpetofauna; analisar  os padrões de diversidade; determinar a influência de fatores abióticos e bióticos e do espaço sobre as taxocenoses em diferentes escalas de observação; e iniciar o monitoramento da diversidade da herpetofauna em longo prazo, contribuindo com dados sobre biologia e ecologia das espécies. 

Biologia Reprodutiva de Serpentes

     A Biologia Reprodutiva faz parte da história natural de serpentes, sendo fundamental para a compreensão de sua dinâmica populacional e delineamento de modelos para conservação. O estudo da reprodução de serpentes neotropicais é realizado a partir do material depositado nas coleções científicas e trabalhos de campo. Os principais aspectos reprodutivos de serpentes brasileiras estudados são: dimorfismo sexual, ciclos reprodutivos, estocagem de esperma, modos reprodutivos, fecundidade, comportamento sexual e morfologia dos órgãos reprodutivos.

Ecologia Comportamental de Anuros

     A Ecologia Comportamental de anfíbios Anuros é desenvolvida com enfoque na atividade reprodutiva e comunicação acústica, visual e multimodal. O objetivo dos estudos são de investigar: as inter-relações entre habitat, sinais comunicativos e reprodução; as causas e processos relacionados a evolução da comunicação; e o significado funcional dos displays de comunicação.

Vertebrados terrestres exóticos e invasores no Brasil

     Essa linha de pesquisa tem como intuito para compreensão de diferentes aspectos da invasão de espécies de vertebrados terrestres, em especial da herpetofauna exótica e invasora do Brasil. O objetivo dos estudos é identificar novos invasores potenciais, conhecer suas distribuições, bem como avaliar seus possíveis impactos sobre os processos ecológicos, as espécies nativas e o ambiente físico

O Laboratório de Herpetologia da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) tem como objetivo produzir conhecimento sobre Bioecologia e Conservação de Anfíbios e Répteis. O grupo de pesquisa é liderado pela Dra. Sonia Zanini Cechin da UFSM, com auxílio do Dr. Tiago Gomes dos Santos daUNIPAMPA, ambos integrantes do corpo docente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Biodiversidade Animal da UFSM. A equipe desenvolve pesquisas multidisciplinares integrando colaboradores de diversas instituições.

O grupo de pesquisa é liderado pelo Dr. Tiago Gomes dos Santos, do Departamento de Ecologia e Evolução e integrante do corpo docente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Biodiversidade Animal da UFSM. A equipe desenvolve pesquisas multidisciplinares integrando colaboradores de diversas instituições.

Público-alvo: acadêmicos de Ciências Biológicas (1º ao 4º semestre) da UFSM

Inscrições: 23 de abril a 6 de maio de 2018

Entrevistas: 7 a 11 de maio de 2018 (horário a combinar, por e-mail)

Atribuições dos estagiários

Inicialmente os estagiários deverão realizar atividades como: tombamento de espécimes, triagem e separação de material coletado, realização de técnicas de laboratório, dentre outras.

Após o período de capacitação inicial (6-12 meses), cada estagiário deverá ser inserido em um projeto de pesquisa.

a) Ficha de inscrição

b) Histórico Escolar;

c) Carta de Intenção de uma a duas páginas no máximo, em fonte Times New Roman tamanho 12, espaçamento entrelinhas 1,5 e alinhamento justificado. O documento deverá enfatizar os seguintes itens: motivação para realizar a curso de Ciências Biológicas; experiência acadêmica (estágio, monitoria, iniciação científica); expectativas relacionadas à Herpetologia;

Seleção dos Candidatos

Serão considerados os seguintes critérios para a seleção dos candidatos:

I. Estar regularmente matriculado no cursos de Ciências Biológicas da UFSM;

II. Conteúdo da carta de intenção do aluno - interesse em pesquisa científica;

III. Entrevista;

IV. Preenchimento adequado da ficha de inscrição;

V. Histórico escolar.

Observações:

- O preenchimento incorreto da ficha de inscrição poderá causar a exclusão do candidato no processo seletivo;

- Caso a Comissão de seleção levante a possibilidade de fraude dos dados declarados, esta se reserva o direito de solicitar ao candidato o envio de cópias da documentação comprobatória.
