Um estudo da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), desenvolvido desde 2015, tem apresentado resultados que mostram que a pastagem natural do Bioma Pampa, quando bem manejada, compensa as emiss\u00f5es de metano produzidas pelo gado atrav\u00e9s da absor\u00e7\u00e3o de di\u00f3xido de carbono (CO2) pela pastagem. Ou seja, o Pampa \u00e9 um potencial absorvedor de gases do efeito estufa (GEE).<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38;text-align: justify;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">De acordo com defini\u00e7\u00e3o da Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecu\u00e1ria (Embrapa), o Pampa \u00e9 o \u00fanico bioma brasileiro localizado em apenas um estado, o Rio Grande do Sul. Estes podem ajudar na elabora\u00e7\u00e3o de estrat\u00e9gias para a redu\u00e7\u00e3o da emiss\u00e3o dos gases de efeito estufa (GEE) na atmosfera. A mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o desses gases \u00e9 importante para frear o processo de aquecimento global do planeta. Entre as <\/span><a style=\"text-decoration: none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iberdrola.com\/sustentabilidade\/derretimento-de-geleiras-causas-efeitos-solucoes\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #1155cc;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: underline;vertical-align: baseline\">consequ\u00eancias<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\"> do aquecimento global est\u00e3o o aumento da temperatura global, que pode provocar derretimento das geleiras, aumento do n\u00edvel do mar &#8211; que, inclusive, pode fazer <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: #ffffff;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">desaparecer<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\"> territ\u00f3rios inteiros, como o de Cuba -, diminui\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1gua doce para consumo humano, extin\u00e7\u00e3o de esp\u00e9cies e impactos sobre o clima.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38;text-align: justify;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">O aquecimento global \u00e9 causado pela intensifica\u00e7\u00e3o da emiss\u00e3o dos GEEs, sobretudo por meio de a\u00e7\u00f5es humanas como a queima de combust\u00edveis f\u00f3sseis nos transportes e na ind\u00fastria, o desmatamento, as queimadas e as atividades agr\u00edcolas. <\/span><a style=\"text-decoration: none\" href=\"https:\/\/mundoeducacao.uol.com.br\/geografia\/efeito-estufa.htm\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #1155cc;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: underline;vertical-align: baseline\">O efeito estufa<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\"> \u00e9 um fen\u00f4meno natural que \u00e9 respons\u00e1vel pela manuten\u00e7\u00e3o da vida na Terra, uma vez que regula a sua temperatura por meio da absor\u00e7\u00e3o da radia\u00e7\u00e3o solar pelos GEEs. A Confer\u00eancia das Partes (COP) \u00e9 uma reuni\u00e3o anual das 197 partes &#8211; ou pa\u00edses &#8211; adeptas da Conven\u00e7\u00e3o-Quadro das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas sobre Mudan\u00e7a do Clima\u00a0 (UNFCCC) e que busca a estabiliza\u00e7\u00e3o das emiss\u00f5es globais de gases de efeito estufa (GEE). <\/span><a style=\"text-decoration: none\" href=\"https:\/\/epocanegocios.globo.com\/Um-So-Planeta\/noticia\/2021\/11\/rascunho-de-conclusao-da-cop26-adia-metas-mais-ambiciosas.html\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #1155cc;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: underline;vertical-align: baseline\">A COP26, <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">que aconteceu de 31 de outubro a 12 de novembro em Glasgow, Esc\u00f3cia, reafirmou a urg\u00eancia da necessidade de redu\u00e7\u00e3o de GEEs pelos sistemas produtivos, para que o planeta consiga se manter abaixo do aumento de 1,5 grau at\u00e9 o final do s\u00e9culo. At\u00e9 agora, o aumento de temperatura desde 2010 est\u00e1 em 1,1 grau. A partir da coleta de dados sobre trocas de carbono e metano nos ecossistemas, o grupo de pesquisadores coordenado pela pesquisadora concluiu que o bioma Pampa, em condi\u00e7\u00f5es de manejo adequado, funciona como uma esp\u00e9cie de dreno de gases de efeito estufa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38;text-align: justify;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">D\u00e9bora explica que, durante o inverno, em que h\u00e1 menor crescimento das pastagens, o Pampa emite mais di\u00f3xido de carbono (CO2) do que absorve. No entanto, a quantidade de absor\u00e7\u00e3o dos gases no ver\u00e3o compensa a emiss\u00e3o do inverno e, em uma m\u00e9dia anual, o local funciona como um absorvedor de CO2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38;text-align: justify;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">Quanto ao metano, a docente salienta que, embora emitido pelo gado por meio da rumina\u00e7\u00e3o, a vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o do bioma &#8211; atrav\u00e9s da fotoss\u00edntese &#8211; consegue absorver, em quantidade de CO2, o dobro das quantidades de emiss\u00e3o de metano. Pelo tamanho, o Pampa tem potencial de absorver mais de 1 milh\u00e3o de cr\u00e9ditos de carbono, o equivalente a 1 milh\u00e3o de toneladas de CO2 equivalente. D\u00e9bora salienta que isso n\u00e3o significa que em outros biomas e em outros tipos de manejo do solo e dos animais n\u00e3o h\u00e1 maior emiss\u00e3o de GEE &#8216;s.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38;text-align: justify;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">A import\u00e2ncia do estudo est\u00e1 em demonstrar alternativas e estrat\u00e9gias que possibilitem mitigar a emiss\u00e3o dos gases de efeito estufa tamb\u00e9m em outros ambientes. D\u00e9bora comenta que a inten\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 realizar mais estudos em outros locais, para que as medidas sejam ampliadas e possibilitem maior conhecimento sobre outras realidades. O Laborat\u00f3rio de Micrometeorologia da Universidade usa a metodologia da covari\u00e2ncia dos v\u00f3rtices &#8211; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: italic;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">eddy covariance<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">, em ingl\u00eas &#8211; que mede a concentra\u00e7\u00e3o dos GEE na atmosfera.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38;text-align: justify;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: 'Times New Roman';color: #000000;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">A medi\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 feita por meio de sensores instalados em uma torre de fluxo, que capta os dados presentes na atmosfera e que circulam com o vento. O grupo de pesquisadores tem duas torres de fluxo instaladas em s\u00edtios experimentais, uma em uma \u00e1rea de manejo na Universidade, e outra em uma fazenda particular no munic\u00edpio de Acegu\u00e1, no sul ga\u00facho, a cerca de 290 km de Santa Maria. Os sensores coletam cerca de dez medidas de cada vari\u00e1vel por segundo, o que corresponde a 18 mil medidas na atmosfera a cada meia hora. Os dados s\u00e3o armazenados em um cart\u00e3o de mem\u00f3ria e, no caso do s\u00edtio experimental na Universidade, em que h\u00e1 acesso \u00e0 internet, s\u00e3o repassados de forma autom\u00e1tica ao sistema do laborat\u00f3rio que os processa. No caso de Acegu\u00e1, em que a torre n\u00e3o tem liga\u00e7\u00e3o com a internet, os dados ficam somente no cart\u00e3o de mem\u00f3ria, que \u00e9 substitu\u00eddo a cada 15 dias, quando tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 feita a manuten\u00e7\u00e3o dos sensores. A metodologia permite abranger \u00e1reas maiores que um hectare e pode ser utilizada, inclusive, para valida\u00e7\u00e3o de medidas de sensoriamento remoto. No s\u00edtio experimental de Santa Maria, h\u00e1 coleta de dados de g\u00e1s carb\u00f4nico desde 2015. Os animais se alimentam em uma \u00e1rea em determinado per\u00edodo de tempo, e depois passam para a pr\u00f3xima, para que o pasto tenha tempo de brotar e crescer de forma natural.
