Ela \u00e9 a reconstru\u00e7\u00e3o art\u00edstica do\u00a0<i>Antifer ensenadensis<\/i>, um cerv\u00eddeo extinto que \u00e9 considerado o maior cervo que j\u00e1 habitou a Am\u00e9rica do Sul. Tamb\u00e9m est\u00e3o representados, nos quadrinhos menores, o cr\u00e2nio e o enc\u00e9falo dele, que foram objetos de estudo do\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/repositorio.ufsm.br\/bitstream\/handle\/1\/21576\/DIS_PPGBA_2021_MACHADO_EMMANUELLE.pdf?sequence=1&amp;isAllowed=y\">mestrado<\/a>\u00a0que realizei na UFSM, em 2021, sob orienta\u00e7\u00e3o do paleont\u00f3logo Dr. Leonardo Kerber. Eles chegaram aqui com a forma\u00e7\u00e3o do Istmo do Panam\u00e1 no final do Plioceno, h\u00e1 mais ou menos 2,4 milh\u00f5es de anos. O Istmo era uma ponte localizada na Am\u00e9rica Central, que interligou a Am\u00e9rica do Norte com a Am\u00e9rica do Sul. Ap\u00f3s a morte dos animais, os tecidos do sistema nervoso n\u00e3o s\u00e3o preservados, pois se decomp\u00f5em rapidamente. Este ramo da paleontologia, portanto, n\u00e3o trabalha diretamente com os tecidos, mas com impress\u00f5es\/contornos internos que foram deixados nos ossos. Atualmente, as tecnologias para visualizar e analisar f\u00f3sseis v\u00eam avan\u00e7ando e \u00e9 poss\u00edvel estudar as cavidades internas de cr\u00e2nios por meio de tomografias computadorizadas, sem precisar quebrar ou danificar os f\u00f3sseis. Antes do surgimento dessas tecnologias, era necess\u00e1rio fazer moldes de l\u00e1tex ou outro material, e o risco de danificar e\/ou fraturar o f\u00f3ssil era grande. Alguns pesquisadores serravam o material para ver como seria a morfologia interna, o que acarretava em perda de informa\u00e7\u00e3o externa, al\u00e9m de danificar o f\u00f3ssil.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.7999999999999998;text-align: justify;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial;color: #262626;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">Em nossa pesquisa, estudamos a cavidade endocraniana de <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial;color: #262626;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: italic;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">Antifer ensenadensis<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial;color: #262626;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\"> (um f\u00f3ssil de 42 &#8211; 10 mil anos atr\u00e1s), provenientes da Forma\u00e7\u00e3o Touro Passo (Pleistoceno Superior) e outros cervos atuais da Am\u00e9rica do Sul, Am\u00e9rica do Norte e Eur\u00e1sia. O objetivo era compreender a morfologia, tamanho e forma dos endocr\u00e2nios.
