A cada 10 litros de biodiesel \u00e9 gerado 1 litro de glicerina. Antes, o material precisa passar por um processo de destila\u00e7\u00e3o que deixa para tr\u00e1s quantidades consider\u00e1veis de um tipo de res\u00edduo s\u00f3lido que precisava ser descartado com cuidados especiais que acabam gerando um alto custo para as empresas do setor.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38;text-align: justify;background-color: #ffffff;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt;padding: 0pt 0pt 12pt 0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Roboto,sans-serif;color: #1c1c1c;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">Para identificar e buscar solu\u00e7\u00f5es para reduzir o custo do descarte dos res\u00edduos, o grupo de pesquisadores realizou visitas t\u00e9cnicas em empresas. Como a maior parte do res\u00edduo era formada por sais, uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o seria destin\u00e1-lo para a ind\u00fastria de alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o animal, mas isso esbarrava na rejei\u00e7\u00e3o do produto <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Roboto,sans-serif;color: #1c1c1c;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: italic;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">in natura<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Roboto,sans-serif;color: #1c1c1c;background-color: transparent;font-weight: 400;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;text-decoration: none;vertical-align: baseline\">. \u201cEsse sal est\u00e1 contaminado por \u00e1cidos graxos e outros res\u00edduos qu\u00edmicos e os animais n\u00e3o o aceitam sem purifica\u00e7\u00e3o, mesmo quando misturado \u00e0 ra\u00e7\u00e3o convencional\u201d, explica Marcus Tres.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"line-height: 1.38;text-align: justify;background-color: #ffffff;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt;padding: 0pt 0pt 12pt 0pt\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent;font-family: Roboto, sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\">No processo desenvolvido pela equipe, o sal bruto \u00e9 misturado a um solvente que separa contaminantes do sal purificado. No final, cerca de 80% da massa total pode ser aproveitada. Essa coopera\u00e7\u00e3o proporciona que alunos de ambas as institui\u00e7\u00f5es troquem experi\u00eancias atrav\u00e9s dos projetos de pesquisa, desenvolvimento e inova\u00e7\u00e3o desenvolvidos
