How to get in touch?

Institutions or researchers interested in establishing a partnership with UFSM can contact the International Affairs Office (DRI) by sending an email to dri.bilateral@ufsm.br. The office will assist in guiding the negotiations and identifying cooperation opportunities. If you prefer to initiate contact directly with researchers, research groups, or academic programs in your field of interest, you can also use the contacts available in this list.

How does the process work?

Our academic collaborations are typically formalized through a General Agreement for International Cooperation or a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). These instruments enable student exchanges as well as the development of joint scientific, technical, and cultural initiatives. Below, you can find our standard templates in their various bilingual versions.

Please note that using UFSM’s standard template, which has been pre-approved by our Legal Office, significantly expedites the process. Other document templates may also be used if preferred by the partner institution. However, due to legal requirements, proposals using custom templates must undergo internal review by the University’s departments, including our legal team, which may extend the processing time.

Once both parties agree on the terms, the completed template with the institution’s details must be sent to dri.bilateral@ufsm.br. UFSM will handle the necessary procedures for approving the agreement in accordance with its institutional regulations and requirements. The process for approving the agreement within the partner institution must be verified directly with the competent department of that institution.

Once the internal review phase is completed, we will contact you to confirm that the document has been approved and to check which signing method your institution prefers. UFSM prefers certified electronic signatures (ICP-Brasil), but we can adapt to the type of signature required by the partner institution.

Finally, we highlight that UFSM researchers involved in the cooperation can mediate negotiations and communication between the institutions, facilitating the administrative processes.
