The survey evaluated 1503 universities in 106 countries
The results of the 2025 evaluation of the QS World University Ranking were published last Tuesday (04). In this edition, UFSM holds the 16th place in the general category in Brazil and 11th among Federal Universities. Globally, it maintained its position in the 1201-1440 range.
Despite the large number of public and private universities in Brazil, only 35 entered the ranking. Nonetheless, Brazil contributes the highest number of universities in Latin America, which, in this edition, was represented by 195 universities in 18 countries. This number is justified by the stringent criteria of the ranking, particularly regarding research metrics.
This year, 17 million papers were evaluated by the ranking. To determine the final grade, the criteria included research metrics such as indicators of scientific publication and citations resulting from these papers, the proportion of students per faculty and international academics, sustainability, and a comprehensive survey on global academic reputation involving more than 280,000 researchers and academic staff worldwide.
The complete results can be found on the QS World University Rankings website.
